As Cambodia has achieved a level of political stability, the country is now been exposed to a new level of ecotourism, albeit quite small. Koh Kong province is the leader for ecotourism in Cambodia through the establishment of ecolodges like Tatai Ecolodge described below. The Koh Kong region spans 11,136 square kilometres and includes one of Southeast Asia’s largest tracts of virgin rainforest. Threatened species call this area home, including the threatened Asian elephants, tigers, Siamese crocodiles, pileated gibbons, tigers and more. This area was forbidden by foreigners for many years and now that it can be explored, it is important to do it responsibly.
